A New York Institution: A Look at Portraits, Inc's Illustrious Past

Portraits, Inc. was founded in 1942 in New York. Over our 75-year history, we have represented such distinguished artists as Andrew Wyeth, Albert Murray, Robert Brackman, Sidney Dickinson, John Koch, Aaron Shikler, & Nelson Shanks.

More Than Just People: Special Commissions

Our artists do more than just paint people. Award-winning artist Deborah Chabrian captures beloved homes, gardens, and other special places in exquisitely-rendered watercolor portraits.

Historical and Posthumous Portraits

Portraits of historical figures or subjects who are no longer living require a special level of skill, and our artists are adept at meeting this challenge head on.

Established in 2001, the Portraits, Inc. Scholarship Program* provides awards annually to children or grandchildren of our portrait artists. Scholarships are awarded to qualifying young people who demonstrate community awareness, high ethical standards, and a sincere commitment to further their education. Six named scholarships are awarded each year in honor of Lifetime Achievement Award Winners Marshall Bouldin, III, Everett Raymond Kinstler, John Howard Sanden, and Gordon Wetmore, and staff members Christine S. Adams and Marjorie S. Walker.

Applications are available each spring. To learn more about the Scholarship Program or to request an application, e-mail us or contact the corporate office.

"Successful applicants should be well-rounded persons who have a passion for learning and a desire to make themselves into the best they can be."
