I"m First Symposium at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, March 28, 2018, will allow first-generation college students and their guest to gain all the resources needed to get into college while forming a network of people to support them. Student will leave this event feeling more comfortable with the application and admissions process. This is for students in grades 9-11 and will qualify for the Emerging Leaders Scholarship, worth over $8,000 in tuition over four years, after they attend.

The Nebraska State 4-H Camp will be hosting a camp experience for teens (14-18 years old) called the Leaders in Training Program (LIT). The LIT Camp will be May 30th to June 2nd. The LIT program is specifically developed for campers to advance thier leadership abilities. LIT's have opportunities to build skills in communication, problem solving, teamwork, decidion making, planning and conflict resolution. 4-15-2018 - Nebraska Rural Electric Energy Camp will be held July 9 - 13, 2018
- The camp is sponsored by the Nebraska Rural Electric Association and is held for a week at the State 4-H Camp in the Halsey National Forest. The camp has been held for over 25 years. The goal of the camp is to offer a program that challenges students, educationally, recreationally, and socially. The high school age students learn about electricity, how it is made and delivered, and how to work and play around electricity in a safe manner. A competition is hosted for ambassadors that will be sent to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour of Washington D.C. NPPD Corporate Communication and Environmental Departments host one or two activities at the Energy Camp and has helped sponsor a tour of NPPD’s Gerald Gentleman Station located near Sutherland, Nebraska. April 15, 2018 - The Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) is a weeklong experience for high school juniors and seniors from all across Nebraska. NAYI is about developing as leaders and networking with your peers and industry leaders, as well as discovering your unique role in the agricultural industry. The camp is July 9-13, 2018 . 2017 NACO Scholarship Bios
NACO began its scholarship program in 1999 when it presented six high school seniors with $500 awards each to be used toward their post-secondary educations. Since 2004, NACO has presented twelve high school seniors with $1000 awards each to be used toward their post-secondary educations. The scholarship program is open to graduating seniors whose parent or step-parent is a current county official or employee. Scholarships are available for one year and are non-renewable.
To be considered, students must complete the required application form, submit a seven-semester transcript from an accredited Nebraska high school and prepare a written essay on the importance of county government.
Scholarship recipients must plan to attend a post-secondary educational institution within the state of Nebraska and may use the NACO scholarship for any costs associated with their continuing education.
